The goal of Fassi Gru is to provide all its products with added value in their various aspects: from mechanical solutions to hydraulic functions up to electronic systems, without forgetting after-sales services

This is exemplified by the instruments made available to the design department: the calculation programmes developed in cooperation with the Milan’s Polytechnic Institute, the highly advanced design and simulation CAD systems such as “Catia”, also used by leading manufacturers in the automotive and aerospace sectors, in addition to Fassi Gru, the only company in the articulated cranes sector. A system thanks to which it is possible to work in a virtual reality, with an overall view of all phases and all aspects of the design, verticalizing and integrating all processes into a single tool: concept, development, simulation and structural analysis.
Electronics and the use of high and ultra-high strength steels (UHSS) are also crucial when it comes to making the difference, as they are able to ensure extremely high performances. Hence, relying on the concept that a company needs to offer more to its customers, combining safety and performances: in other words, combining the highest performances without taking any risks, thus enhancing the overall safety of the equipment.
Another important aspect is the man-machine interface. Fassi Gru was one of the first companies to develop remote control systems using a radio control. This has resulted in the operator being able to work in safer positions, with improved visibility and, in some cases, limiting the number of workers needed to carry out the job. Innovative communication systems were created and radio transmission reliability concepts were established; moreover, the crane control instruments were made “user-friendly”, making it possible for the operator to manage the crane in real time through the display.
The high standards followed during the construction phase are a direct result of the company’s focus on the design and development phase of the prototypes. Without forgetting the capillary and professional after-sales network, operating in 60 countries throughout the world and always ready to step in when the customer needs technical support.
Fassi Gru S.p.A. will be at the 30th Edition of Bauma to reaffirm its technological leadership at the most important international event in the world of constructions
Fassi Gru, world leader in the lifting sector, will be on hand at Bauma 2013, the most important international tradeshow dedicated to the building sector, to be held in Munich from April 15th until the 21st. Now in its 30th edition, Bauma has always been a privileged venue for the construction world, a chance to present the most innovative solutions to sector professionals from all over the world.
In fact, Bauma 2013 may be getting ready to exceed the numbers of the 2010 edition, also afflicted by the ash cloud erupted by the Icelandic volcano which caused the grounding of many flights. In spite of the ash cloud, the 555,000 square meters of the 2010 trade fair attracted a total of 3256 operators representing 53 countries, with 420,000 visitors from 200 countries.
The Fassi Gru stand will be located in Outdoor Area North F8 Stand N827/3, and will cover a surface area of 540 square metres. The stand will feature a futuristic structure in PVC with weft in inflatable nylon that, in addition to its attractive look, emphasizes the company’s desire to travel down new paths, with the innovation of industrial products but also from an image standpoint.
The Group. The Fassi Group is currently made up of six independent companies operating in the Lombardy and Emilia Romagna regions, all involved in the construction and marketing of hydraulic cranes. The 13 autonomous units cover a total surface area of 138,000 square metres, 63,000 of which are covered, with a total workforce of approximately 450 people.
The companies are: FASSI GRU Spa (Albino – BG), parent company and commercial coordination; O.ME.FA. Spa (Albino – BG), production of medium-heavy cranes; CARMO Srl (Nembro – BG), production of medium-light cranes; CIESSE (Campagnola – RE), carpentry; O.CI.MA. Srl (Almè – BG), jacks; O.M.B. Srl (Petosino – BG), mechanical jobs.

A surface area of 400 square meters, 225 of which are taken up by the original and eye-catching structure in PVC with weft in inflatable nylon thread that aims to become the distinguishing mark of Fassi Gru at all tradeshows in future years. This is an original nylon material supported by a light alloy structure that will house the reception and the offices, as well as the multimedia stations that illustrate the production and operation of Fassi cranes.
Once again, a cutting-edge choice that underscores the company’s desire to invest and travel down new paths, a desire that has always distinguished the doings of Fassi Gru.
In addition to the two new products, the F110B crane and the SmartApp, the visitors’ attention at the Fassi stand will certainly be captured by the Man truck fitted with a Fassi F1950 crane, the largest machine to be produced by the Bergamo-based company. This truck is owned by the Austrian company Spiegl, which chose this set-up to further expand the lifting capacities of its fleet; in fact, the combination Man-Fassi F1950RA.2.28 can reach a horizontal reach of 45 m, a loading moment up to 138 ton/m for a self-weight of about 15 tons. The operator can thus lift weights of up to 6 tons but, by suitably positioning the lifting hook, the lifting capacity can reach 40 tons.
Five additional models will complete the display at the stand: F38A Active (lifting capacity 3.47 t/m and hydraulic reach 7.55 m), F55A Active (lifting capacity 4.99 t/m and hydraulic reach 9.25 m), F65AC Active (lifting capacity 6.01 t/m and hydraulic reach 8.20 m), F80AC Active (lifting capacity 8.26 t/m and hydraulic reach 9.40 m) and F455RA e-dynamic (lifting capacity 43.43 t/m and hydraulic reach 20.80 m).
Visitors will certainly be curious about the presentation of the first prototypes on a 1:50 scale of the Fassi F1100RA, which is offered to collectors and aficionados in combination with vehicles of all brands starting from 2013, even with different models and fittings of the same brand.

Fassi SmartApp is an integrated system of data reading and collection in real time that can carry out remote diagnostics on crane operation and is compatible with the Android system. Using the Fassi SmartApp makes it possible to optimize crane capabilities through perfect knowledge of the utilization characteristics and maintenance times.
The Radio Remote Control section displays the reaction thresholds of the remote control, with the possibility to change its sensitivity: the main booms can be set by adjusting the response of the control levers: simply change the working curves of the individual elements. By doing so, you can adapt the sensitivity of controls to the operator’s individual needs in remote.
The Black Box key is not just a log of the operations carried out, as it also serves as a communication tool with the Fassi assistance network.
Analyzing and comparing the utilization characteristics of the crane helps to better understand its use and allows the scheduling and management of maintenance costs with better performances for a longer time.
Moreover, should the crane suddenly stop working, the Geo-Locator function finds the nearest service centre and, through the Black Box, the remote diagnostics procedure is activated, storing data and any alarms in a file that can be sent to Fassi’s service department through an e-mail from the smartphone, thus providing correct and accurate information about the detected malfunctions in order to arrange for fast repairs.
Thanks to the user-friendly menu, it is easy to access the various sections, switching with just a few touches from the collection of data, also expressed in graphs for quick reference, to the controls adjustment section. Moreover, you can also activate certain crane functions from the smartphone, such as the XP, or of the vehicle, such as turning the engine on and off and changing its speed.
This system originates from the Human Machine Interface (HMI) philosophy, to confirm the constant push towards innovation by Fassi’s R&D Department, with the involvement of Milan’s Polytechnic Institute.

A significant expansion in the 10 t/m segment which, in the Fassi Gru offer, is considered as medium segment in the small range in terms of lifting capacity, yet very important in terms of sales volumes.
The main novelty is the adoption of a lifting link at the articulation between the column and the main jib (F110B.1) and, if necessary, a second lifting link (F110B.2) between the main jib and the secondary jib. The offer will also include a model with no lifting links, identified by the acronym F110B.0, which will replace the well-known and highly appreciated F110A.0.
The project underscores the company’s intention to place this crane on the market with three types of technological solutions, in order to meet all operating needs in the best way possible.
In fact, customers will be able to configure the crane based on their specific needs and for all possible functions (excluding continuous rotation). Moreover, the introduction of the single or double lifting link allows customers to take advantage of the additional and new capabilities offered by this model.
The

• weight reduced by 20%;
• hydraulic reach increased by 15% with the development of the .25 version;
• maximum load increased by 65% at the mobile hook (in the version with two lifting links);
• combination of the hydraulic extension on the .24 version too.
All this translates into a series of advantages for the operator, who can count on improved performances both in terms of dynamic lifting and of static capacities on the lifting curves. It is also possible to have rated configurations in horizontal with no angle of the main jib and the maintenance of rated loads even with the “Prolink” activated.
The new F110B.1 and F110B.2 cranes are available in five versions for both ranges, identified by the numbers .21 to .25, which correspond to the number of hydraulic booms (from one to five); the reach ranges from the 5.7 metres of the .21 version to the 14.1 metres of the .25 version, while the lifting capacity varies from 10 t/m of the .21 version to 8.9 t/m of the .25 version.
