Kentucky Kid takes his first ever WorldSBK victory in stunning wet weather display. Honda World Superbike Team rider Nicky Hayden crossed the line in Sepang on Sunday to take his first ever win in World Superbike. The American, a rookie in the class, took off from the pack in a supreme display of speed and control in difficult conditions. Ducati’s Davide Giugliano came home second after a late charge, ahead of reigning Champion Jonathan Rea.
The MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship has visited the Sepang International Circuit since 2014 but with major changes to the track since last year's race there is the potential for some surprises this weekend.WorldSBK has a rich history in Malaysia, with Sepang the third venue to have hosted the Championship. Johor and Shah Alam have also hosted races but the current venue has been one that has been met with universal praise. It's technical layout and challenging conditions have made this an instant favourite with riders but major resurfacing could unsettle the running order.

Ducati title challenger Chaz Davies threw down the gauntlet to Championship leader Jonathan Rea in Race 2 at Imola as the Welshman again lead off the line from pole position and took a commanding victory. Kawasaki Racing Team’s reigning Champion Rea crossed the line second despite struggling with some issues, heading teammate Tom Sykes over the line once again.
