Fassi sponsors 2 IVECO trucks in the 40th edition of the prestigious Dakar Rally in South America

Lima (Peru) – On 6th January, the 40th edition of the Dakar Rally started from the Peruvian capital, a race in which Fassi is sponsoring two IVECO Powerstar trucks, driven by Artur Ardavichus (Kazakhstan, #508) and Ton van Genugten (Netherlands, #509), both of the Petronas De Rooy team.

The race will cover a total of 8,710 km, traversing Peruvian deserts, the altitudes of Bolivia and the northwest of Argentina, finishing in the city of Cordoba on 20th January. Over 330 vehicles will compete, from the categories of bike, quad, car, SSV and truck. Both IVECO drivers have had a very positive start to the race (which has so far taken place mostly on dune terrain), neither of them having dropped beneath 16th place in the overall rankings and frequently having placed in the top five positions. The rankings after Stage 5 are: Ardavichus in 7th place and van Genugten in 8th. It will be interesting to see the exciting developments of this closely-fought competition.
