Fassi Gru acquires the French company Marrel together with Miltra SAS

August 2013 - The Fassi Group based in Albino (BG) has acquired a significant share of the French company Marrel SAS, a legendary firm located in Andrézieux-Bouthéon, close to Lyon, with 120 employees and origins that date back to 1919. For the Italian group, world’s leader in the production of truck cranes, investing in a company that manufactures hook lifts, skip loaders, tipper scissors and hydraulic cylinders means staying in the industrial vehicle fitting out sector, thus expanding its business. By doing so, Fassi intends to offer these new products besides its articulated cranes due to their interesting market prospects.

This transaction was carried out by Fassi Gru together with Miltra SAS, exclusive distributor and importer for France of the cranes that have been manufactured in Albino since 1978. Together, they acquired the ownership of the French company from the Caravelle financial group.

Marrel is well-known in Europe and in the United States, with 55% of its production intended for the export market. The 2011 turnover was equal to 32 million Euro.

"The exporter vocation of the Group under my guidance is paying back all the hard work carried out in recent years, when market globalization was a scenario reserved to a few players" says the Managing Director, Giovanni Fassi "With this entrance in Marrel, we want to provide a push to the French company’s exports". The Italian entrepreneur and Roger Boutonnet, the owner of Miltra Sas, express their satisfaction for this transaction. "Miltra and Fassi Gru have a solid and longstanding collaboration behind them; our determination, in addition to our tested understanding, has prompted us to undertake this important investment".
