Fassi F1100RA “full optional”
On Saturday 17th September Fassi crane dealer Saber S.r.l. celebrated the delivery of a FASSI F1100RA he-dynamic crane to T.G.S., a Valtellina-based company that specialises in lifting and special transportation. First the official delivery ceremony – and then straight to work. The latest addition to the fleet of T.G.S. S.r.l., a company in Traona in the province of Sondrio, is already in operation. It is the largest articulated crane in the province of Sondrio, fitted on a MAN TGS 35.480 8x4 truck.

The delivery ceremony took place on Saturday 17th September at Saber S.r.l., a Fassi Gru dealership, which recognised that this truly special event was something to celebrate. In fact the Fassi Gru/MAN pairing is not only the largest articulated crane in the province of Sondrio, but it is also one of the most significant in the neighbouring provinces of Lecco, Como and Varese, where Saber S.r.l. also operates.

One of the most important characteristics of the new crane/truck combination is versatility, which will allow TGS to operate in restricted spaces, such as inside warehouses, for example, while handling considerable loads. The Fassi F1100RA.2.28 L616 V30 has been fitted with a full array of optional extras, including an FX901 colour display and the new Fassi V7S radio control unit.

These are its features, and the protagonists who contributed to its fitting.

FASSI F1100RA he-dynamic, THE CRANE
The F1100RA.2.28 L616 V30 has a maximum load moment of 90.21 tonne/metres and an outreach, with a hydraulic extension, of up to 31.85 metres. The crane is fitted with Fassi’s most advanced stability system, called FSC/SII, which combines the improved efficiency of the new angular sensor with the moment limiter.
The crane’s equipment includes design enhancements such as the “carbon look” protective casing that gives it Italian style. Located next to the base plate, the new FX901 colour touch screen with its aesthetically-pleasing graphic display enables clear and rapid control of a large amount of information: messages, alarms, percentages or pressures produced by the load on the lifting rams, and oil temperature are all just one touch away. Menu navigation for this robust 7” display is similar to that of a tablet computer. Icons on the screen make it easy to view all available information or adjust parameters, viewing different categories of information at the same time, in particular when checking the stability of the vehicle to evaluate all the possible operating parameters.

THE PROTAGONISTS

FASSI GRU S.P.A., THE MANUFACTURER
Fassi Gru recently celebrated 50 years of research, technology and hard work that has made it the world leader in the lifting sector. Today, Fassi cranes represent the combined resources of six companies and 14 plants. To guarantee optimum product quality, the Fassi industrial group is structured to cover the entire production cycle, from metal sheet to finished crane. This is supported by a global commercial and technical network and partnerships with other leaders such as Cranab and Marrel. Production is organised in three ranges: small, medium and large cranes from 1 tonne/metre to above 141 tonne/metre, as well as special versions.

SABER S.R.L., THE FASSI CRANE DEALERSHIP
Saber S.r.l. was founded in 1994 and has been the Fassi Gru dealer for the province of Sondrio, along with Lecco and Como in the Alto Lario area north of Milan, for 20 years. The company specialises in the sale and rental of building machinery as well as the provision of spare parts and servicing, representing several major brands in the sector. On the initiative of the three partners, Aldo and Lido Sandrini and Gianbattista Bertolini, Saber has grown to become a bench mark for all of the operators in the provinces of Sondrio, Lecco and Como. Saber currently has 15 employees and also has a training division, as a specialist centre for issuing operator licenses for various machinery, as well as for certification of testing, and the initial, periodic and structural checks required by the local and national health and safety authorities, the Azienda Sanitaria Locale (ASL) and Istituto Nazionale Assicurazione Infortuni sul Lavoro (INAIL) and other official organisations.
A special mention goes to Paolo Sandrini, Saber’s commercial manager, who led the customer negotiations with tenacity and professionalism.

T.G.S. S.R.L., THE CLIENT
T.G.S. stands for Tarca Giovanni and Stefano, father and son, who have recently been joined by Stefano’s brother Davide. This is a family company founded in 1998 in Traona, in the province of Sondrio, which provides lifting and transport services in the Valtellina area. Giovanni Tarca had owned a special transport company since the 1980s but wanted to create a company that allowed him to be closer to home, yet in a familiar field. Today, with his two sons, he manages a fleet comprising two mobile cranes of 70 and 140 tonnes capacity, two truck-loader cranes (one of which is the recently delivered FASSI F1100RA) and four semi-trailer trucks, all manufactured by MAN.

OFFICINE BPM SNC, THE FITTERS
Officine BPM was founded in 1982 by a team of four after the closure of the company where they previously worked. Now there are two partners, Armando Badalotti and Marco Prini who, with the addition of the first letter of their city, Mantova, make up the acronym that forms the name of the company. From the outset, they specialised in fitting-out trucks. These days output is focused principally on fitting articulated cranes with fixed or dumper bodies and roll-off systems, while also working with low-loaders and curtainsider trucks.

MAN TGS 35.480 8x4, THE VEHICLE
The veritable king of construction delivery trucks, this four-axle German vehicle (with two driven axles) is the ideal partner for the Fassi crane, enhancing its qualities of versatility and efficiency. The driveline is made up of an in-line six-cylinder D26 12.6-litre engine producing 480 hp (353 kW) and 2300 Nm torque, with a 12-speed MAN TipMatic automatic gearbox. To achieve extremely low emission levels, MAN uses common-rail injectors, exhaust gas recycling (EGR), selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and a diesel particulate filter (DPF/CRT), allowing MAN Euro 6 vehicles to achieve high standards in the reduction of fuel consumption, and low requirements for AdBlue.
