Eternoo Strengthens Its Fleet with 25 New Volvo FMX Trucks Equipped with Fassi Cranes
A more modern, safer and more sustainable logistics model for the building materials distribution sector: this is the goal that has brought Volvo Trucks and Fassi alongside Eternoo, Italy’s largest network active in the supply of construction materials, in the creation of a new fleet comprising 25 Volvo FMX 380 6x2 trucks, fitted with Fassi F155A e-dynamic cranes.
This is a strategic supply that goes far beyond a simple vehicle setup. It stems from a shared project focused on digital evolution, operational sustainability and safety, aimed at further raising service standards for direct on-site delivery.
This three-way partnership between Eternoo, Volvo Trucks and Fassi demonstrates how synergy between Italian and international excellence can generate tangible value on the ground, responding precisely to the new demands of the construction sector.
With over 40,000 deliveries per year and 76 active points of sale, Eternoo has made logistics one of the strategic pillars of its operating model. In a sector where proximity to the construction site is crucial, the choice of technological partners becomes essential to ensure efficiency, reliability and service continuity.
Choosing Volvo: safety, sustainability, reliability
Eternoo’s expansion strategy is based on the acquisition of competing businesses—a model that often involves integrating vehicles that are not always high-performing. This created the need to renew a fleet that currently numbers over 100 vehicles. The purchase of 25 new trucks meets this need, with the aim of reducing fuel consumption, emissions and operating costs. This renewal also ensures greater efficiency in urban areas subject to strict environmental regulations, such as Milan.
For the first time, Eternoo has chosen Volvo Trucks and its FMX 380 6x2 model, specifically designed to operate in complex environments and on challenging terrain. Several key factors drove the decision: environmental sustainability—thanks to vehicles that are more efficient in terms of consumption and emissions—high reliability and performance, and above all a strong focus on safety, a hallmark of Volvo and an essential requirement in such a delicate operating context.
Among the most appreciated features is Volvo Dynamic Steering, a unique steering assistance system that reduces driver effort while adding stability, significantly improving manoeuvrability and driving comfort.
“We chose Volvo because it offers the perfect balance of safety, efficiency and reliability—essential elements for a company like ours that operates robust, high-performance vehicles in complex environments. In addition, the strong focus on driver comfort is a decisive factor from a welfare and employer-branding perspective: driver wellbeing is a concrete retention lever at a time when attracting and retaining qualified personnel is increasingly challenging,” explains Federico Nessi, CEO of Eternoo.
“We are delighted to collaborate with Eternoo, a leader in the building materials distribution sector. Our new Volvo FMX trucks are designed to tackle the most complex operational challenges while ensuring safety, reliability and high performance. This partnership represents a significant step towards a more modern, efficient and sustainable logistics model for the Italian construction industry,” says Giovanni Dattoli, Managing Director of Volvo Trucks Italia.
Fassi’s setup: Italian quality and Industry 4.0 technology
The collaboration between Fassi and Eternoo is built on a shared vision of innovation, proximity and service culture.
“Dialogue, mutual understanding and a constant focus on the future are the foundations of our synergy with Eternoo. This relationship is not based solely on a shared corporate vision or a similar operating sector, but above all on a deep alignment of values and objectives. Our technology—where research and development are a strategic pillar—integrates perfectly with the digital transformation path undertaken by Eternoo. It is a partnership that unites us today and that we hope will continue to strengthen and evolve over time,” states Daniele Vismara, Sales Director Italy at Fassi.
Thanks to close collaboration from the very early design phase, the Fassi F155A e-dynamic cranes have proven perfectly suited to the specific needs of the building materials distribution sector. This result was also made possible by the contribution of Fassi Emilia, a Fassi Group company and a leader in the setup and sale of articulated cranes in Emilia-Romagna, which meticulously handled the supply and installation of the 25 vehicles destined for the Eternoo fleet.
“With a lifting capacity of up to 14.9 tm, an operating reach of up to 22.5 metres with jib, and an advanced remote-control system, this crane offers an optimal balance of power, precision and reliability", explains Oscar Marchi, President of Fassi Emilia. “Completing the setup is the integration of the patented Internet of Cranes® (IoC) system, which allows operators to access diagnostic services and timely remote assistance.”
“Choosing Fassi allows us not only to rely on a widespread network of specialised service centres throughout Italy for maintenance and support, but also to access advanced technological solutions. In this area, Eternoo is developing a proprietary platform capable of interfacing with Fassi’s IoC ecosystem. Thanks to Industry 4.0 connectivity, in addition to crane data, we will be able to monitor every delivery in real time, gaining strategic insights to make on-site operations more efficient,” adds Federico Nessi.
A new name for a new phase of growth
The 25 Volvo FMX trucks will be the first to feature the company’s new name. The fleet renewal is part of a broader and recent rebranding project that saw the transition from Eternedile to Eternoo. Derived from an internal private label and inspired by the solidity and durability of the construction sector, the new name also looks to the future: it is more essential and consistent with the style and evolution of a company that aims to become a digital point of reference for its customers as well.
The new vehicles also feature a red and black livery, Eternoo’s official colours, which also recall those of Ducati Corse, sponsored by the Modena-based company in MotoGP.
“We are fast on site just as Ducati is on the track. If the new name speaks to customers, partners and talent in a more dynamic way, the visual impact of the new trucks has thrilled our people and sent a clear message of professionalism,”
the company states.
Shared leadership to drive the evolution of the sector
With 76 points of sale, over 700 employees and expected revenues of around €230 million in 2025, Eternoo is increasingly playing a leading role in the consolidation of the building materials distribution market—still highly fragmented, but rapidly evolving and with enormous potential.
“To continue leading our market, we rely on leaders in their respective fields. We chose Volvo Trucks and Fassi because we share an approach focused on dialogue, innovation and long-term vision. They are the ideal partners for the logistics model we have in mind: modern, efficient and sustainable,”
concludes Federico Nessi.
