REACH Certificate of Compliance

The REACH Directive is a regulation in the European Union on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction make up the acronym REACH).

It consists of 15 titles, divided into 141 articles and 17 technical annexes and, being a regulation rather than a directive, does not require any act of transposition or implementation and is immediately applied by all EU member states.

The REACH regulation requires all manufacturers and importers (from outside the EU) of chemicals to register them with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). Registration of chemicals consists of manufacturers and importers sending the ECHA a complex list of information about these substances and their uses. In the case of particularly hazardous substances, ECHA imposes further specifications for authorisation or restriction of use.

The list of substances whose production, sale or use must be authorised in the European Union can be found in Annex XVII of this regulation; this list is revised periodically and is always available for consultation on the ECHA website.

The list of 'restrictions on the production, trade and use of certain hazardous substances, compounds and articles' can be found in Annex XVII. These substances are not subject to prior authorisation; however, shippers, users and suppliers are subject to restrictions that can be found there.

During the production cycle, Fassi Gru S.p.A. does not introduce into its products any substances contained in Annex XIV, for which authorisation for use is required.

The company must however verify that, during the supply chain processes, the suppliers themselves do not use them without prior authorisation.
