BergamoBrescia Cultura d’impresa - Photographic stories of innovation

Two exhibitions and a catalogue for a single large-scale project; Entrepreneurial Culture in Bergamo and Brescia as told through pictures, from the dawn of the twentieth century, to the excellence of 4.0 enterprises.

Bergamo and Brescia are joint Capitals of Culture in 2023.

Sharing the title between the two cities is what motivated the candidacy, and it has informed the Capitals’ calendar of initiatives for the year. In line with this philosophy, 1 April saw the public opening of the large-scale exhibitions BergamoBrescia Cultura d’impresa - Photographic stories of innovation, held at the Convento di San Francesco in Bergamo and at the Spazio Fondazione Negri in Brescia.

The project has been created by invitation and with support from SIAD Fondazione Sestini, and has been made possible thanks to the close collaboration between a number of museums, foundations and businesses in the Bergamo and Brescia area, which have shared their archives to create a visual presentation of the history of entrepreneurial culture throughout the 20th century. Five sections mark a journey through photographic images to explore the past, the present and the future.

More than 200 pictures represent the area’s vocation for manufacturing and its capacity for innovation that made, and continues to make, Bergamo and Brescia leading figures in the economic history of Italy and Europe. Fassi features in two sections; with a photo of one of our cranes from 1969, and a present-day image representing 4.0 innovation in our company.

The exhibition in Bergamo will be open from 1 April to 9 July 2023 at the San Francesco Cloister in Città Alta (the upper part of the city).
